The 2017 Masters of Aesthetics Symposium was held here in San Diego on August 25th and 26th. Dr. Michael Tachuk attended to hear lectures from some of the most renowned dermatologic and cosmetic surgeons in this country. He heard lectures on cutting-edge aesthetic techniques and treatments that could be brought back to Viva Wellness for enhancing the already first-rate services and procedures.
The Masters of Aesthetics Symposium was dedicated in loving memory of Dr. Richard E. Fitzpatrick, one of San Diego’s very own for nearly 40 years. Dr. Fitzpatrick made the historic discovery of using lasers for skin resurfacing. He was well known to the world of dermatology by his accomplishments and contributions. He was affectionately called the “Laser King”.
Dr. Tachuk enjoyed hearing Melanie Palm, MD, MBA speak on new techniques for sclerotherapy, laser, and endovenous ablation for leg veins (a procedure offered here at Viva Wellness). She also gave great insight on how to effectively market the medical practice through social media. Dr. Palm is considered a media expert and has appeared many times on local and national TV.
Another topic that he found insightful was regarding a safer and more effective approach to ethnic skin, spoken by Arisa Ortiz, MD. Not only is Dr. Ortiz the Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the University of California, San Diego, she is the Director of Laser and Cosmetic Dermatology. Dr. Ortiz focused some of her attention on periorbital, neck, and hand rejuvenation. Since this is one of Dr. Tachuk’s specialties, he enjoyed learning more on the subject.
Jeffrey Klein, MD, a dermatologic surgeon from San Juan Capistrano and Newport Beach Orange Country, California, ended Friday evening with the honorary lecture for Dr. Richard E. Fitzpatrick. His heartfelt speech about Dr. Fitzpatrick as one of our community physicians and as a family man was well received by all. Dr. Tachuk has had the pleasure of meeting and conversing with Dr. Klein on several occasions over the years.
