Botox

Botox is a neurotoxin that originates from a type of bacteria known as clostridium botulinum. It serves both cosmetic and medical purposes. The main function of Botox is relaxing and temporarily paralyzing the muscle at the site of injection. As a result, fine lines and wrinkles formed by muscular contractions are reduced, prevented, and eliminated, which is complemented by a number of other benefits.

Safety: Botox treatments are FDA approved which means that there are limited risks and side effects associated with them. Redness, bruising, and swelling are most common, and subside in 1 – 5 days following the treatment. The effect achieved by Botox is not permanent, and any unplanned side effects or unsatisfactory results won’t stay for long either.

Convenience: Botox is known as “lunch break procedure” due to how fast and easy it is to carry out. Botox treatments usually take 10 to 20 minutes to complete.

Cost: The price for a Botox treatment can vary anywhere from $200 to $600 plus based on the area of treatment, the number of units required, the desired results and the expertise of the doctor.

Efficacy: Multiple studies conducted over the decades proved the consistency of results achieved with Botox injections. The application of Botox for cosmetic purposes continues to provide reproducible results. It effectively treats fine lines and even more severe frown lines, wrinkles, as well as a variety of medical conditions, such as TMJ, hyperhidrosis, and more.

WHO IS A CANDIDATE FOR BOTOX?

Anybody who wants to prevent or eliminate fine lines and facial wrinkles, slim the jawline, reduce the severity of gummy smile, or improve the dimpling in their chin can be considered as an ideal candidate for Botox.

Besides, people with medical conditions including TMJ, hyperhidrosis, chronic migraines, and many other conditions listed below can also benefit from Botox.

There are very few cases where Botox is best to be avoided, including the ones below:

• Diseases that affect the muscles, such as myasthenia gravis.
• Hypersensitivity to botulinum toxin ingredients.

Fillers

Dermal fillers are safe, gel-like injectable substances that smooth creases, fine lines, and wrinkles to rejuvenate your skin and add volume and fullness to your face. Dermal fillers can be used to enhance your lips, fill your cheeks, chin, nose, straighten out your jawline, soften grooves underneath your eyes, and many other cosmetic alterations to reduce the visible effects of aging. Dermal fillers do not fill in wrinkles but rather add volume to the desired area in order to reduce the appearance of wrinkles in your skin.

FDA-approved dermal fillers can last between six to 12 months before fading and requiring another injection. The lifespan and overall effectiveness of your dermal filler treatment depend on your physiological makeup which is why we recommend consulting your doctor before beginning treatment.

Most dermal fillers last between six and 12 months before they are absorbed back into the skin and the results start to fade. Typically, most FDA-approved dermal fillers are also infused with lidocaine to help minimize discomfort during and after treatment. Injecting cosmetic dermal fillers only takes a short amount of time to complete, and most patients can return to their normal activities immediately after treatment.

Kybella

Kybella is an FDA-approved substance made by the pharmaceutical company Allergan Cosmetics, which also distributes Botox and Juvederm dermal fillers. Kybella is meant to be injected in areas such as under the chin to help improve your jawline.

When Kybella is injected, it breaks down the fat cells in the treatment area and permanently eliminates it. Before it was approved and used on patients, Kybella was tested several times on numerous patients to confirm its safety and efficacy. If you are looking for a way to contour the jawline and eliminate submental fullness without having to go under the knife with a double chin removal surgery, Kybella injections may be your answer.

Procedure: 20-30min, the area is marked and Kybella is injected into the center of the each grid. There is mild discomfort immediately after the injection. Moderate amount of pain is expected after the procedure and is relieved with Tylenol or Aleve. Moderate degree of bruising, hardness, swelling and redness may develop at the injection sites and may persist for up to one week.

Frequency: every 3-4 weeks for an average of 4-6 treatments.

Results: Injected area may feel hard and warm for a few days immediately after the procedure, with the effect becoming visible after approximately third treatment, which will continue into the next few weeks, and will progress after additional injections are administered.
