What is a thread lift?
A thread lift is a minimally invasive procedure designed to reduce the visible effects of gravity on the face. Rather than remove loose skin surgically, as with a facelift, a thread lift uses threads and sutures to gently pull back loose skin on the forehead, jawline, neck, and décolleté. Not only does a thread lift provide a natural and immediate lift to the face, but the insertion of the threads also creates micro injuries to the skin, which triggers the body’s natural healing response. As new collagen is directed to the treated areas, the skin becomes plumper, firmer, and more hydrated, further enhancing the anti-aging effects of the procedure.
How does the MediThread PDO thread lift work?
Before Dr. Tachuk begins, he will apply a topical anesthetic to your skin to minimize any discomfort. Then, he will insert absorbable threads under the skin using ultra-fine cannulas, or hollow needles. Once inserted, cones attached to the threads anchor the threads in place while lifting and tightening the skin from underneath. The cones also cause minor inflammation, helping to stimulate collagen production over time. After inserting the sutures, Dr. Tachuk will apply light pressure to shape the surface of the skin and lift it into the desired position.
How long do the results of a thread lift last?
The results of a thread lift are immediately visible after the procedure. You’ll notice that your skin is lifted, toned, and rejuvenated before you leave our office. Wrinkles will also be noticeably less prominent. After two weeks your skin will begin producing new elastin and collagen, which will continue for up to six months until thread absorption is complete.
