What is Microneedling?
Automated Microneedling (also known as Epidermal Collagen Induction Therapy or ECIT) is a recent innovation in aesthetic medicine. Microneedling works to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as improve the skin’s appearance through balancing the skin’s natural tone and color for an overall skin enhancement. With the procedure performed in the comfort of the Viva Wellness office, this treatment is quick and accessible.
Microneedling works to improve and smooth the skin’s texture by reducing the appearance of fine lines and acne scars.
At Viva Wellness, the Eclipse MicroPen is used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin which are virtually painless and effective. This stimulation aids in the production of collagen and elastin. As the skin repairs, the epidermis thickens, resulting in smoothing, displaying a softer appearance of wrinkles. This treatment can be used on virtually all parts of the body such as the face, neck, arms, hands, stomach, back, and legs. It can even improve the appearance of problem areas and concerns such as scars and stretch marks.
In the comfort of the Viva Wellness office, Dr. Tachuk will determine the treatment process based on a personalized consultation and skin evaluation. Some patients require a single treatment once a year. However, depending on the status of the skin, 6-8 treatments every 6-8 weeks is recommended to receive optimal results.
The entire procedure takes about 15-30 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area. A cartridge with 12 tiny micro-points is attached the Eclipse MicroPen Elite. A sterile saline solution is applied to the skin and the specialist will determine the pen position catered to the patient. In single gliding motions, the specialist will gently press the pen to the skin until the entire treatment area has been covered. The sensation is similar to a mild sandpaper being moved across the skin. Although some areas of skin may be more sensitive, the speed of the reciprocating tip supplements the treatment, working to make the experience more comfortable.
What is the downtime?
Directly following the treatment, you will notice a bright redness to the skin. Healing times vary based on the patient, pen position, and amount of passes and overlapping passes the specialist needs to take in order to treat the area. On average, a patient can expect to experience redness for 2-4 days, while some patients can heal completely within 24 hours.
When will I see the results?
Patients will immediately notice a “glow” to the skin, and will continue to observe visible changes and improvements over the next few weeks and up to 6 months after the treatment.
